1. Any member/intending who breaches the Union’s code of conduct will be subjected to a disciplinary action as determined by the executive committee. There should be no refund of funds and levies if membership is terminated or withdrawn.
2. Any member/ intending member who fights or abuses (physically or otherwise) in any of our Union’s meetings or events shall attract immediate expulsion from the Union with all privileges withdrawn and terminated as acts of violence has no place in our Union and as such cannot be tolerated.
3. If while on probation, the member commits another offence and is found guilty, membership will be withdrawn with no refunds of any their funds and levies.
4. Any member who is on suspension shall not be entitled to any benefit during the 6 months period and must not attend any of our IPU’s meetings/events.
5. Any member found with gun or weapon of destruction in any of the Union’s meetings/events shall be handed over to the police and membership terminated immediately.
6. Any activity/behaviour which the union considers not to be in line with the progress and prosperity of the union shall be considered as anti-union activity/behaviour. This shall attract a written warning at first and if it continues will attract 6 months suspension which could lead to final dismissal from the union.
7. Any activity/ behaviour by any member/ intending member which the Union considers not to be in line with the progress and prosperity of the Union shall be considered as anti-Union activity/ behaviour. This shall attract a six months suspension in the case where such a member in breach of the above holds a position of trust within the organisation and if such continues would lead to final dismissal from the Union.
8. Where any member/ intending member in breach of the above does not hold any position of trust within the Union, a written warning will first be issued and if this continues will attract a 6 months suspension which could lead to final dismissal from the Union.
9. Where there is joint membership status, both parties will be affected in the case of suspension and expulsion.
1a.) This will be our social media guiding principles. Harassment and bullying WILL NOT BE TOLERATED in any form.
1b.) Posting irrelevant content which includes photos, write-up and other media content would attract 6 months suspension with payment of any ongoing compulsory levy/dues and apology to IPU members. They will also be taken off the WhatsApp group for that period of time they are on suspension. This also applies to the person who is found to have bullied and harassed another member.
1c.) Where an EXCO member/Publicity Secretary has been informed about an invitation or sharing a relevant post and the EXCO member thinks he/she cannot perform the task, the EXCO member should delegate it to another EXCO member but whereby the EXCO member is unable to carry out the function and at the same time fails to delegate the duty to either the chairperson/vice the failing EXCO member will be considered wanting in his/her duty and the chairperson/vice shall decide the appropriate disciplinary actions on the failing EXCO member in the case of such event.
2a) Whatever that is not relevant to IPU for example, meeting schedules, how to help ourselves, develop ourselves, organising activities etc should not be allowed to be posted on the platform.
2b.) Any invitations to any celebrations should be forwarded to the EXCO/Publicity Secretary. If anything of such is posted which fails the rules then we hold the EXCO/Publicity Secretary responsible. If they say they're not aware then we hold the individual responsible.
2c.) If EXCO/Publicity Secretary approves any message, then they should be able to justify their approval of the message and post it on the forum themselves. No individual posting of invitations will be allowed.
2d.) If anyone wants to post anything to be debated, it should first go to the EXCO for approval after which the EXCO can then post it with accompanying message to help trigger of a positive debate
2e.) IPU’s Publicity secretary will handle social invitations and managing social media posts
3a.) Phone call bullying will need to be reported to chairperson/vice who will set up independent panel to look into the matter.
3b.) Confirmed bullying will attract 6 months suspension with payment of any compulsory union levy/due and apology to bully victim at the end of the suspension period.
4a. Any person, who must be an Imolite that wish to join the union (IPU) must join in person and not by proxy.
4b. The intended member must be introduced by an existing member to the general house who will then tell us how happy he/she is in joining the union.
4c. The intended member will also assure us of unalloyed commitment to the union. However, if they are later found to have a questionable character, the EXCOS will handle the matter in a way that they deem necessary.
